Help|Spheres

Typing 'Sphere' by itself, while on Carrion Fields, can have one of two effects:
  • If you have not chosen a Sphere, it will list your choices
  • If you have already chosen a Sphere, it will tell you what it is

The Spheres of Influence are gathered into several bodies: the World, the Heavens, the Forces, the Virtues, War, and Peace. The World is composed of several Spheres: Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit rest at the core of the World for they are the primary Elements that all things are constructed from. Between the primary Elements sit the Para-Elements (Magma, Ooze, Ice and Smoke) and above and below them sit the Quasi-Elements (Lightning, Vacuum, Radiance, Salt, Ash, Dust, Steam and Minerals). Two opposing powers shape the Elements of the World - Magic and Nature. See Figure 1 for a diagram of the Spheres that make up the World.

FIGURE 1: The World and its components

Between the Heavens and the World rotate the Greater and Lesser Virtues. At the border of the World sit the Sun and Moon, Spheres spawned of the Light and the Shadow, but fully neither. The Spheres of the Virtues dominate the motivation of mortal hearts and the Sun and Moon provide the mortal heart with inspiration.

In the diffuse gray region where Light and Shadow intermingle the Forces flow unconcerned with the concepts of good and evil. War, spawned of Chaos and Shadow, is influenced but not dominated by its parent Spheres. Peace, spawned of Order and Light is likewise merely influenced by those Spheres. The relationships between the Spheres of the Heavens is complex and thus illustrated in Figure 2 below.

FIGURE 2: The Relationship of the Spheres
(Heavens and World combined)

The start of the Third Age to Thera heralded the creation of the Spheres, heavenly bodies that store the resources of the gods and influence mortal destiny. The war among the Immortals in the Second Age led to separation and mistrust and thus the Spheres were created.

Read the following Sphere descriptions before deciding upon a Sphere:

  • The Elements - provides information about the Spheres related to the Inner Planes.
  • Nature - provides information about the Spheres related to Nature.
  • Magic - provides information about the Sphere of Magic.
  • The Sun - provides information about the Spheres associated with the Sun.
  • The Moon - provides information about the Spheres associated with the Moon.
  • The Forces - provides information about the Spheres associated with the Forces (including Peace and War).
  • The Lesser Virtues - provides information about the Spheres that comprise the Lesser Virtues.
  • The Greater Virtues - provides information about the Spheres that comprise the Greater Virtues.
