Look Out for Double XP!
Been away from CF for awhile and need a reason to get back in? Need something to
fill up that free time after the homework is done? Had a race/class combination
you've wanted to try but never got around to? Want to try out some of the new
shapeshifter forms? The Immortals have just the thing for you! This weekend
(October 3rd through October 5th) will be a double experience weekend. Every
single creature you kill will generate double the normal experience, pushing you
through the levels twice as fast. Consider it a thank you for all you've done
for the game throughout the years.
Get your Tricks and Treats
Halloween is just around the corner, and you can be certain to expect some
great events. Look forward to costume contests, some special Lyceum action, a
jack-o-lantern find and last but not least a special arena event. Now a word
from PP.
Therans,
As reported I am quite pleased with the fatness of my purse, and of course
your willingness to shed blood in MY Arena. The turnouts have been
splendid, and my kobold minions have incurred less of my wrath as of late.
But as always, I like to push the boundaries of good taste and have
concocted quite a twisted event to be held in the month the Gods have named
October. There will be an event strictly for teams of two combatants.
Teaming up with one of your most despised enemies to use their horrific
skills in concert with yours to bring down the other team. Yes, that is
right. Fortress and Scion, Outlander and Tribunal, Nexus and Battle. Form
a team of your polar opposite and try your hand at winning some Glory, and a
little gold I might toss your way if you are particularly entertaining.
More to come, -PP
Player Count Rockets Upward
Pulling together for a fun-filled weekend,
the entire immortal staff brought several quests and immteraction to the game
over the beginning of July, spiking the player count. Several hunt and
gather quests were provided by the team with an array of prizes from last names
to edge points. The weekend also included the unveiling of a totally revamped
Arkham.
One of Carrion Field's oldest cities has
been reformed into a viable home town, able to compete with other popular
sites. Sacks, water skins, upgraded gear and filling foods (other than the old
favorite of chocolate cake) can now be found within the city perimeter. While
Arkham was a highlight of the weekend, the most popular event goes to the
battle of wits, arms and charms brought to you by the Poison Pen.
While several quests were done in one jam-packed weekend, keep looking out for
more global quests (especially the famed arena events). See you in The Fields.
Thievery at Its Best!
Check out.
a complete list of the long anticipated and newly updated thief edges. Brought
to you by the coding genius of Daevryn, thieves will now find new edges to help
them with most any skill in their arsenal along with some extra bonuses to
things like fleeing. Also with the new thief edges, a fresh mini-thief path has
formed. While this path is still on the mysterious side (fitting for the skill
set), be certain to do some investigating to unlock the hidden secrets.
Heralds Still Going Strong
On June 30th, the Heralds of the Eternal Star hosted a poetry event with a
fabulous turnout. With the High Herald Etielise controlling the crowd, Iunna
listening closely and Lyristeon providing comic relief, the event was something
to remember. While everyone didn't place, no one walked away empty handed.
Congratulations to the winners: First Corsix, second Celenai and third
Sharricci.
"The Paths We Follow", by Corsix
Out the tavern,
Out the door!
For sights, for sounds!
For ever-more!
Across verdant glades,
Below skies so blue!
Down caves, over hills!
Marching through and through!
The path beckons,
It yearns for wear!
To be trodden, followed!
By those who dare!
Run down it's length,
And feel it's width.
Know it's breadth,
Find it's depth.
...And yet the road goes ever-on.
Not interested in poetry? The Heralds have hosted several other events over
the past few months including: A road rally search, a joke contest, a heroic
tale telling, a drunken excursion and many many others. Keep looking for that
special missive in your hands, and participate at the next event!
And for some jest: Coming from Voralian city, a fire giant makes his way to the
Inn of the Eternal Star for a contest of sorts. When he approaches, he notices a
sign that states, "Inn of the Eternal Star: Left." Disappointed, he heads home.

Words from the Players
."I didn't even know what a 'MUD' was when I once ended up browsing a list of
them... Hmm, fantasy theme, an appropriately gory name, roleplaying... that
might be nice. That was almost 10 years ago, and not many games can hold their
luster for so long; they lack the infinite replayability and constant evolution.
Sure, Doom is still an old classic but CF is an always new classic. It's not
plain hack'n'slash, it's no endless posing in a chatroom: THIS. IS. CF!!!"
